Chocolate Churros at home

This recipe is super easy to make at home.  I don't deep fry much so It took me a couple tries to make it straight but with practice, you can also make these yummy treats right in your own kitchen.

1 cup water

2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 L of vegetable oil for deep frying

For Chocolate Churros:

take out 2 tablespoon of flour and

replace it with 2 tablespoon of cocoa powder and

add 1/4 cup of water to the batter.

Ingredients for Cinnamon sugar:

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon of cocoa powder

1/2 cup of white sugar

In a small sauce pan over medium heat, add water, sugar, salt and oil into the pan.  Cook until sugar melted and remove from heat.

Mix flour and cocoa powder into the liquid and mix until it form into a paste or ball.

Preheat oil in a wok or a skillet to 375F or 190C.

Using a pastry bag and a wide star piping tip, place dough into the bag and pipe long strips directly into the hot oil.

Fry until golden brown and place onto paper tower to remove excess oil.

In a baking tray, mix sugar, cinnamon and cocoa powder.

Roll Churros on top of sugar and serve immediately.

For even size churros, count from 1 to 8 each time when you pipe. ( make 8 long churros)

Only fry 1 to 2 pieces at a time to avoid it from sticking.

Do not overheat oil, use a deep fry thermometer.

Straighten Churros while frying in hot oil.

Remove from oil and straighten Churros immediately on a sheet pan.
